On the Quayside at Wells-next-the-Sea, French’s Fish Shop has been serving fish and chips for over 90 years.

Golden chips served with moist boneless and skinless cod, covered in crisp batter. Judged to be one of the top 3 fish and chip shops in the area in 2014/15. In the summer the sea wall is full of people enjoying this Great British tradition, with a panoramic view and the smell of the salt air with a hint of vinegar.  The children catching crabs off the quayside and the fishermen unloading their catch. With the old sailing boat moored alongside the quay, it feels as if you have turned the clock back, parents are introducing their children to this experience, as their parents did to them. I asked a local ‘which is the best fish and chip shop’, he said he didn’t really know as he only ever went to French’s.
